‘Ribbon Treat’ with Tilda Apple Bloom

Hi, and welcome to my blog.

Have you ever wondered about a particular fabric, and suddenly you find out there’s a whole new world out there using this fabric.  That’s what’s  happened to me, through a friend.  I made an amazing discovery of Tilda fabric.

From the time I started seriously quilting,  I also started looking at fabrics in a new light, and writing my own patterns.   The idea of writing a pattern has been very exciting to me.  Watching it all come together, working through the paper pattern instructions to completing the quilt block has been just wonderful.  Sometimes, it is like completing a sudoku puzzle.   Same feeling.

For this pattern here I chose a Tilda fabric called ‘Apple Bloom’.  I chose it because I like apples and the name grabbed me.   I’ve chosen to make the pattern become recurring so that when the blocks placed side by side,  they match exactly to make a large pattern.  The pattern name ‘Ribbon Treat’ shows off the ribbon effect when placed together with the same block by it’s side.

Each block finished has a colour from the Tilda charm pack stack.  One block is blue/white with pink on each corner.  The next block is green/white with pink on each corner, and the last block is yellow/white with pink on each corner.  Pink being the overarching colour choice for all three blocks together.  Simple. There is still enough fabric left over in the charm pack to make something small out of or to add to the fabric stash.

Ok.  So there it is.  If you want to try this pattern, check out my shop.  Easy to download a PDF pattern and the pattern has plenty of reading instructions, as well as pictures to guide you as you go through each step.

The backing fabric by Lisel Garsveden, 2013, is from IKEA.  Cotton, and beautiful to sew with.
