Sky Series mini quilt

Hi and welcome to Sew Blue Thread, and welcome to the part of the Quilt-Along where all the lovely finished blocks gets completed into a mini quilt.  I love it at this stage where the finale happens and the quilt comes together.  How has everyone been going with their quilts?  I’ve had loads of fun hosting this quilt-along, and learned heaps along the way.  So let’s get started with this final chapter of how to actually put it all together.

Stitch the 3 blocks together.

Next, layer the backing fabric, the wadding (batting), and the quilt top together.

Top stitch the 3 layers.

Here, are 5″ charm pack squares stitched together randomly to complete the backing fabric.

Trim the sides using the quilting ruler so that the edges are straightened and tidy.

Ok, almost finished the mini quilt.

Stitch a 2″ width binding.

 Finished  Sky Series Mini Quilt.

…and that completes the Sky Series Quilt Along.  Here is a mini quilt using Tim Holz fabric, Eclectic Elements, which gives the whole mini quilt an old world feel. Check this out…

So here we are at the end of the Sky Series Quilt-Along.  Thank you for participating in the journey.  I’ve had a great time, and look forward to hosting another one.  Look out for the links.   Finally, thank you to Pattern Tester Joanne Harris for your valuable input into the patterns.

So until next time,

have fun sewing,

Marsha.
